Unlock and lock your Tesla by swiping the key on the B-pillar induction area, just like the Tesla key card. To activate, pair the smart key using Tesla's app. Once activated, it works seamlessly for locking, unlocking, and starting the car.
2. Is the car model key safe?
- The smart key uses Tesla's original encrypted chip, ensuring high security and preventing unauthorized copying.
- It requires official key authorization for activation, making it secure for vehicle pairing.
- Multiple smart keys can be matched to one car without affecting the use of the original Tesla keys.
3. Do I need to keep the key in the center induction area while driving?
No. After unlocking the car, you can drive without placing the key in the induction area. If more than two minutes pass after unlocking, a single swipe in the induction area is sufficient.
4. How do I activate the smart key?
- Open the Tesla app and select the vehicle button.
- Tap "Locks" on the screen.
- Scan the smart key on the reader (behind the cup holders).
- Once paired, the new key will appear in the key list.
5. How do I add a new smart key to my Tesla?
- Make sure the key is at room temperature.
- On the touchscreen, go to Controls > Locks > Keys > Add Key.
- Scan the new key on the reader behind the cup holders.
- Confirm pairing by scanning an already paired key.
- Customize the name of the new key if desired.
